Pre-R13 and lesser models from that era have 3 posts, with one being shared by both keys. One other thing to look for (although not definitive) is whether or not the A and Ab keys share a post (in other words, do they have a total of 3 posts attaching them to the body, or 4).
#R13 BUFFET CLARINET SERIAL NUMBERS SERIAL NUMBER#
If you have the standard logo on all parts, and that serial number (which easily falls into the R13 range) you can be pretty assured that you've got an R13. You didn't specifically address this, but I assume your clarinet does have the standard Buffet logo only (without any modifiers such as "sponsored by", "Master Model", "Academy", etc.). I'd include all the info you gave us, and some pics of the logo.Īll that being said, it sounds like what you have is an R13. I think I did that once after the search tool was removed, and they sent me a response confirming the instrument in question was an R13.

LOL, maybe they thought they were losing business from people who were finding old Buffets instead of buying new ones! You might try emailing Buffet through the contact link. but I do intend to have it rebuilt.Ĭlick to expand. It's too bad that they removed that Buffet removed that serial number search engine from their was a great tool. However, I know nothing of the anatomy of a clarinet, so instructions will have to be suitably "dumbed down" if I need to look for a certain partĪnd no, i'm not selling. Is there a web site that can further help me narrow down the information, or is the above information enough to identify the model? if there is measurement to make or any distinguishing part I can look for, please let me know. but color just doesn't look like silver so I'm assuming it's nickel plated) keys appear to be nickel or nickel plated (getting tarnished though.no model number or any markings around register key (only key I know the name!).SN is 147xxx, which puts it to manufactured in 1974 or so.most are getting worn down so it's getting difficult to see) BC emblems are "bare" stamped into the body (no gold paint or ink used, and the lines are very thin/fine.no model number markings or plates near any of the emblems. So I was hoping someone might be able to help me point to the right direction.įrom some of the web sites I've encountered, relevant info that might help identifying is this: I tried using the serial number lookup tool everybody seems to use to figure out the model number, but none of those site seem to be working or available anymore and I can't find SN-model lookup tool doing a standard web search. But that's the extent I know of the instrument. I know when he bought it, he "splurged for a very nice one". I've been told it's an R13, but would like to verify if possible.

just been neglected after heavy use 30+ years ago so needs pretty serious TLC).īut I've been wondering what model this is. it's in pretty sad shape (meaning, it needs new pads and corks to start with. I recently dug it out from its hiding place. I have a Buffet Crampon clarinet that beloned to my father.
